Everything you need to know about Clutch.
Yes. Clutch is free and open source (AGPL-3.0). You bring your own API keys for the LLM providers. There are no usage fees, subscriptions, or paid tiers.
The app itself works fully offline — settings, message history, and search are all local. Chat requires a connection to your chosen LLM provider. Messages queue locally when offline.
Everything is stored in a SQLite database on your machine. API keys, conversations, settings, user profile — nothing leaves your device except the API calls you intentionally make to your LLM provider.
Clutch supports any OpenAI-compatible API endpoint. You can configure custom providers in Settings. Built-in support covers DeepSeek, OpenCode Go, and OpenCode Zen.
Windows and Linux builds are in development. The app is built on Tauri v2 which supports all three platforms natively. Expect builds in the coming weeks.
